Rueil-Malmaison (France) - July 17, 2024 - Schneider Electric, a leader in the digital transformation of energy management and industrial automation, has announced the appointment of Christophe de Maistre as the new Segment President for Energies and Chemicals (E&C). Christophe brings to Schneider Electric, TIME and Statista’s most sustainable company for 2024, more than three decades of leadership in the automation, digitalization and electrification of industrial processes.
Schneider Electric, leveraging its solutions and services across the entire project/plant lifecycle, will harness Christophe’s expertise to empower energy companies to expedite their digital transformation and achieve sustainability and operational efficiency objectives.
“Industry continues to face pressure to decarbonize to meet climate goals,” said Christophe de Maistre. “With energy responsible for over 80% of the world’s carbon emissions, energy and chemicals majors are standing at the forefront of the energy transition as we move towards net zero and a more sustainable energy supply mix. At the same time, with demand for energy increasing E&C companies must increase productivity and continue to minimize risk and prioritize safety.”
Collaborating with companies from conventional energy generation to emerging sectors like green hydrogen, carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS), sustainable plastics, biofuels, and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), the Schneider Electric team partners with its customers to strategize, digitize, and decarbonize through open, software-defined automation. Bringing together process and power operations and delivering a complete portfolio of solutions that connect controls to software the company can support CAPEX reductions by up to 20%, improve energy usage by up to 10 percent and reduce downtime by up to 15%.
Christophe began his professional career at Siemens in the early 1990s and held various management positions, including CEO of the French branch and President of Southern Europe Operations of the company. He also managed several Automation and Drives businesses in China, including Vice President for Siemens Building Technology in North-East Asia and senior vice president for the Converteam Asia-Pacific Zone (now GE Power Conversion).
Christophe joined Schneider Electric in 2017 as Executive Vice President of the Partner Project Division, with a focus on Low Voltage electrical power distribution products, equipment, and solutions. In this role, Christophe spearheaded Schneider Electric’s acquisition of Larsen & Toubro’s Electrical & Automation business in India. His leadership transformed this regional market leader into Schneider Electric’s third-largest worldwide group organization in terms of sales, manufacturing, and R&D. Most recently, Christophe was Zone President for DACH (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland) and CEO for Schneider Electric, Germany.
