The integration of high precision Rotary and Goniometer Stages creates platforms for the precise measurement of curves and angles. The YP100-45 Series (-01 thru -04) of Dual-axis Stages has been released by Optimal Engineering Systems, Inc. (OES). These compact, Yaw Pitch Stages feature high precision rotary stages capable of about 90 degrees of rotation (clockwise/counterclockwise) and goniometers with +/- 45 degrees of travel. The table of the goniometer (pitch) measures 104 mm x 90 mm with a precision pattern of threaded holes for tooling and fixtures. The YP100-45 Series Dual-axis stages are on a 100 mm 175 mm mounting plate for easy integration into new and existing applications.
The YP100-45-02 (shown) is driven by Three-Phase Brushless Servo Motor with Quadrature Incremental Optical Encoder. The YP100-45-03 is driven by DC Brushed Servo Motor with Quadrature Incremental Optical Encoder. These Servo Motor driven stages feature: better repeatability and positional accuracy, and higher travel speeds typical of a closed loop servo motor system. The YP100-45-01 and -04 stages are driven by Two-Phase Stepper Motors with micro-stepping capabilities. The repeatability with a 10 micro-steps-per-step driver of the yaw and pitch axes is +/- 0.01 degrees, positional accuracy is 0.001 degrees and resolution 3.6 arcsec.
The knobs on YP100-45-04 Stepper Motor driven Dual-axis stage are replaced with Quadrature Incremental Optical Encoders for position verification. The stages are black anodized aluminum, with a load capacity of 10.0 kg and the rotation center height is 68mm.
These stages require a Multi-axis Motion Controller that can be ordered as a complete plug-and-play system with RS-232, USB, joystick, trackball and keypad control.
