The International Society of Automation (ISA) introduces a specialized training course to equip professionals with advanced skills in fire and gas mapping for improved industrial safety.
ISA recently announced the launch of its new Fire and Gas Mapping Specialist Certificate. This specialized course aims to provide professionals in the industry with advanced knowledge and skills in fire and gas detection, mapping, and mitigation strategies. Industrial accidents, such as fires and gas leaks, can have devastating consequences, including human casualties and significant damage to infrastructure. With a focus on proactive safety measures, the Fire and Gas Mapping Specialist Certificate course is designed to address the critical need for comprehensive safety strategies in industrial environments.
Fire and gas detection and suppression system design techniques currently in use are often considered unsatisfactory due to their rule-of-thumb and experience-oriented nature, without any real means to quantify risk. Only after technical report ISA-TR84.00.07-2018, Guidance on the Evaluation of Fire, Combustible Gas, and Toxic Gas System Effectiveness was published, was a comprehensive framework for performance-based fire and gas design established. This certificate course describes the techniques recommended in the technical report, along with the hands-on application of these techniques and their associated software tools.
The course is suitable for professionals involved in engineering, operations, maintenance, safety, and compliance across industries such as oil and gas, petrochemicals, manufacturing, and power generation. Participants will have the opportunity to learn from industry experts and gain insights into the latest advancements in fire and gas mapping technologies and methodologies.
This course is provides preparation for taking the Fire and Gas Mapping Specialist Certificate exam. By successfully completing the exam, professionals demonstrate their competence in developing effective safety strategies, conducting hazard assessments, and implementing proactive measures to minimize the risk of fires and gas leaks in industrial settings. This certificate will provide individuals with a competitive edge in their careers and enable organizations to strengthen their safety protocols.
