The 8th annual IoT Solutions World Congress (IOTWSC) brought together more than 11,000 professionals from around the world to share knowledge about industry transformation through disruptive technologies. May 21-23, attendees gathered in Fira de Barcelona’s Gran Via venue to participate in and attend presentations, panels, show floor exhibitions and meetings.

ISA’s Director of Communication and Events Morgan Foor opens the event by introducing the first keynote speaker.

Director of the IOTSWC Marc Tarragó said, “Our event brings together the entire global technology ecosystem so that the industry can harness the power of technology to overcome its biggest challenges.”

The International Society of Automation (ISA) programmed the event, which featured four tracks, 150 speakers and 337 exhibitors.

Rahul Shahani, partner at McKinsey & Company, delivered the opening keynote: “Lighthouses and the Path to Impact: Adopting #AI at Speed and Scale,” in which he explained the necessity of integrating strategic roadmaps and evolving operating models to harness the full potential of technological advancements. His speech also highlighted the rapid proliferation of machine intelligence, the importance of incorporating a range of technology solutions, and the six success factors needed to execute at-scale deployments and create sustainable growth. Show flow highlight: Lavinia’s Virtual Reality (VR) experience

The show floor at IOTWSC featured several testbeds, or experimentation platforms tested in an environment that mirrors the real world. They’re designed to demonstrate how new technologies can be deployed. One of the testbeds, offered by Lavinia, was a virtual reality experience focusing on the content and structure of dreams. Their technology can allow people to interact with elements that haven’t been physically produced yet.

Green tunnel: Demonstrating a commitment to sustainability

The 2024 IoT Solutions World Congress was more than just an IoT and cybersecurity event: it also championed a sustainable future. Between the show floor and the auditoriums, the space featured the Green Tunnel, which was comprised of a variety of plants. IOTWSC promised to plant one tree for each person who walked through during the three-day event.

In early June, IOTWSC was hosted in Brazil for the first time ever at the Transamérica exhibition centre in São Paulo. The event’s motto was “Touch the unlimited possibilities of innovation,” and more than 5,000 people from 20 countries gathered to hear 45 speakers and interact with 50 exhibitors at the inaugural IOT Solutions Congress Brasil.
